The year-end blockbuster exhibition "To the Moon: Liu Kuo-sung" opens grandly on December 21 at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition features 64 works by Liu Kuo-sung, spanning five major series categorized by subject and technique: Calligraphic Abstraction, Space, Water Rubbing, Steeped Ink, and Tibet. Together, they reflect the breadth of Liu’s creative journey over the past half-century. In addition to the artworks, a wealth of precious archival materials—such as handwritten letters and manuscripts—are also on public view.

Sponsored by HTC, the exhibition also includes a new VR work titled "Which is Earth?" by new media artist Huang Hsin-Chien, which reconstructs Liu’s iconic ink landscapes through immersive technology.

This exhibition serves both as a heartfelt tribute to Liu’s 70 years in Taiwan (1949–2019) and as a celebration of his lifelong creative persistence—echoing the same spirit of exploration and determination that marked humankind’s landing on the moon half a century ago.

Dates: 2019.12.21 (Sat) ─ 2020.2.3 (Sun)
Hours: 9am-5pm, Mon-Sun
Venue: Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (No. 80, Meishuguan Rd, Gushan District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan)
